One in five of the UK population is at the "Third Age " - that time of life
when the dependence of childhood and youth, and later on, the
responsibilities of employment and parenthood are left behind. To those who, at this stage, are looking to occupy their lively minds and new found spare time, the U3A could be the answer! The U3A is a nation wide network of local groups of retired people, organising and sharing educational, creative and leisure activities. Democratic, self funded and self managed, U3A aims to use members' own knowledge and experience in providing these activities at low cost. This "Learning Co-operative" of older people organises activities in mainly small groups often in each others homes, enabling members to develop their own capabilities by learning from each other. U3A is a great way to take up new interests, enhance leisure time and make new friends. No qualifications are required and none given. All that is needed is enthusiasm. Come along and share in this opportunity for self development. We hope we can look forward to seeing you as a visitor at our next meeting, where you are assured of a warm welcome! If you have any queries please contact Rodney Dawes (Chairman) on 01252 877294, or Brenda Gulliford (Membership) on 01344 776203, or any Committee Member. |
